On June 21st I celebrated 10 years since the beginning of the Vita de Vie group and all the stories, adventures, travels and great friendships that were born in all this time… I started this amazing story when I was 17 and it’s the main influence for the person I am today!
Back to updating my journal, Spring has just ended and this was one of the best with many many videos, trips and lots of adventures and friends.
The end of March brought some fantastic news and so I went to UK for almost half of April. Half work more than half fun Also finished my first Italian course and now thinking of starting a German one.
But before that there were some celebrations going on and the best way to mark them was making videos.
First it was Alina’s birthday, Alina is one of the lovely people in my team who never joined us for a concert and in trying to convince her to come and put some fun soundtracks to our pictures (songs of people playing in Bucharest this year) put together this video that actually made her say YES:
*update: last night we went to IAMX & Monarchy!
Another lovely lady said YES this Spring, she’s a very funny and interesting figure from work. We pretty much keep in contact everyday so when she announced she’s going to get married we put together a video to send some wishes, the result was better than originally planned and she got to watch it a few hours before the actual event:
During the shooting of this video we had the wonderful Sandra Lensen visiting from Barcelona, she was part of the video crew and we’re seriously considering going pro in the video production business .
So one evening, after work we thought we should do yet another video (only 3 days after the previous one) for our manager because she is absolutely fantastic, we love her and wanted to show it. The idea of this one was to create different versions to videos of her favorite bands, some say this is the best one so far:
The best part was that we got to watch it all together while thinking we’re watching the one with the wedding
The week after these I got on a plane and started the week in the UK|Bracknell Office of HP.
HP Bracknell
Met many people that I work with everyday and this was great. First day was with the cool Printer people crew and started at a pub close to the office.
The next day of my stay in UK, went to the Dixons Retail HQ in Hemel Hempstead and met some more people that I work with everyday. It’s a very nice feeling to actually meet everyone!
The legends have met
First 4 days happened in and around Bracknell, went to Reading, Wokingham, Hemel and a little glimpse into London.
On the last day in Bracknell, after I was supposed to meet the last person on the list realized that something came up and that I had to go to Warwick if I want this to happen. Of course… I did
And so I met with Jody Stockford at the Leamington Spa train station, went to pick-up her little William, went to their house, met Mr. Stockford and talked about football. This was on the Queen’s birthday turning 85.
All in all I spent almost 4 days in Warwick with this very welcoming family, played football in the garden, visited many castles, spent St. George’s day at the Warwick castle, had very nice evenings out on the patio.

I even got a chance to attend the once per year live demonstration of a Trebuchet at the Warwick Castle on St. George’s Day:

I stayed there for Easter too so got a chance to experience the way British people celebrate. It’s pretty much the same thing but different dishes, it was delicious and I am very happy and thankful they invited me to be part of their Easter. Also had an Easter Egg Hunt in the morning and this was also a first.
The next week was in London. Met up with three friends in the evening at King’s Cross and started pub crawling around Camden until we pretty much closed all the pubs. It was fun getting together with old friends in another country as we just happened to be there in the same time.
King's Cross the rendez-vous
The day after we went to visit the lovely Camden Town Market where I finally found those Rolling Stones shoelaces I have been looking for, went to the Techno store, had coffee and scones in a very nice little place in the section where you could find foods from all over the world. After checking out all the stuff people are selling over there, we stopped for some Brazilian food, including a drink made from some fruit that has 1000 calories and is a sort of instant energy boost for those restless London travelers:
Energy in a glass
We also went to the modern TATE but sort of in a hurry, we got to see two Picasso’s, the ceramic seeds section that had been meant for you to walk on but are prevented from being walked on .
The TATE. The Miky & The Radu
The unsteppable seeds to step on
Millennium Bridge
We passed by the Globe – the replica of Shakespeare’s theatre right by the Thames and went in to look for tickets, and we got them!
The Globe - miniature
Radu is studying at the School of Oriental and Afrian Arts and had to go to a class, so Miky and I walked around London Tower, Tower Bridge and just took tours of central London in random buses. We managed to get to the correct corner of Regent’s park where we were supposed to meet Radu again even if we hadn’t mentioned which.
London looking lovely
The evening went on with telling stories and some more walking and catching up.
The next day we headed out to Hyde Park, passing by the British Museum, Oxford Street stores with my first ever John Lewis store where we did spend at least an hour:
Me @John Lewis
Forgot to mention, there was no rain up to this point, so Hyde Park was at it’s best with people relaxing in the sunshine, this place is like a pure vacation, squirrels running around all sorts of birds, the lake and people just enjoying a lovely time.

Kensington Gardens - Fountains
I crossed the park with Miky up to Kensington Gardens where we said goodbye – her going to get ready for the flight and me moving on to the llooooooong awaited Portobello Market. I’ve been wanting to go there ever since I first heard this song:
I had been in London before but completely missed Portobello so I decided that this was the perfect opportunity.. so I did. It seemed a bit wilder than Camden Market and not that busy, it was a weekday after all. But still there were some nice things to see over there too. But time flies and I had to head back to the center because I had a play to attend.
London all busy and dressed up for the wedding
This was first time I experienced London Rush Hour and I decided to walk even if in the end I was 20 minutes late getting to St. Paul’s where I was supposed to meet Radu. There was a photo-shooting with an Asian couple over there, perhaps relating to the Royal Wedding or not. Anyway you could feel it in the air that the wedding preparations are on, UK flags were on every street, warning that the streets would going be closed on that Friday, it was exciting!
on the way to the Globe
We crossed the Millennium Bridge and went into the Globe where I would see my first British play. “All’s well that ends well” and it was spectacular, I loved the accent, the costumes and the way the play is directed. Entertaining from the begging to end, funny and with very nice LIVE music in the background.

This was a lovely evening that ended very late after a nice evening in Covent Garden.
And so it was the…28th of April.
This a very important date in history as my little brother, the famous guitar player is born on this day Cristi Chelsoi.
And also in mine as it marks my first day at HP. It’s truly amazing because it was only one year but it was so intense and full of challenges, achievements, fun, records breaking and most but most of all wonderful people.
So it was a bit strange to see how much had happened and how I am celebrating the moment while in London, thinking back to that first day when I absolutely didn’t see all this coming but am so happy now that it did.
And I thought there would be no better way of starting this day than meeting with than with the person that inspires me and that I am fan of: the lovely Natalie Pilgrim Lucky we were able to meet in the heart of London and spent a very nice morning with tea and cappuccino talking about things we do and how we do ‘em. She took me to see the view from the 17th floor of the building with the HP Office in London and it was amazing!
The date and the place
The Tube
After that I took the direct line from Bank to Waterloo (just like many business people probably do ) and took a train back to Bracknell to enjoy the day with some more cool people and meet some more that I had missed in the first days.
Jody was again very nice and welcoming and picked me up from the station and got me a card to say congratulations. I also met Jon Howland Nielsen that gave me a cute wireless pink mouse.
After a pleasant afternoon, headed back to Wokingham in the nice car with a roof top of Kathleen’s (the lady who got married) and headed back to London.
Pa ra pa pa
The preparations were almost done for the big event the next day – The Royal Wedding. I went out looking for a hat to wear and I found the perfect one
Trafalgar Square getting ready for the big day
The Hat
By this time it was already late and I went to the SOA Library where there was an Indian student party. These guys actually have a bar, a very nice one in the library and they have parties there. I tried the first ever Japanese beer and got to see how you actually dance to the Indian music
Next day had a rough start as my alarm didn’t go off and we were already late. London was completely deserted, nobody on the street, no cars going by. Everyone was either at home watching the event on TV or in the center watching it live.
We headed for Trafalgar Square and managed to get in just before they closed the area it was perfect timing to see William and Kate arriving at Westminster Abbey, we decided to switch and head for Hyde Park. It was the strangest feeling, tons of people walking in Pall Mall, no cars and a lot of excitement. Got some coffee and breakfast to go from Mark’s & Spencer.

they said 300,000 people
We arrived in Hyde Park in time to catch the highlights of the wedding and when the newly weds went out of the Abbey everyone burst into a huge scream of excitement and joy. UK flags waving all around, everyone sang together God Save the Queen. I believe this was the best place to be, we couldn’t get close to the actual route because we had been late but it was all for the best given that we actually got the change to see the festivities.
and the crowd rejoyces
After the couple came out on the balcony for the first kiss, the Lancaster, Spitfire the Hurricane flied by us a few seconds after flying above Buckingham Palace. They actually circled Hyde Park.
Lancaster, Spitfire and Hurricane
It was a great day for the British people and not only so when the live band started playing everyone danced like it was their own event.
We enjoyed the show for a few hours, there were congas going round, I had a British Flag painted on my face and people were stopping me to take pictures.
Happy to be here

After a while we decided to go to the Natural History Museum that I had been wanting to go to, and it was sort of in the area, so we went! It’s a fantastic place both for children and grown-ups, I loved the dinosaur section and the marine mammals. I got a present for my little sister: an archeology kit where you can dig up the skeleton of a mammoth, put it back together and paint it.
Whale
From there we went to Harrod’s to get some fancy dishes from their famous Food Court where you can get a lot of exotic foods. We went back to Hyde Park for dinner. And witnessed some sort of instant protest at the crossroad of Oxford and Regent St., I guess it was political but it wasn’t too obvious:
Bike Flashmob?
In the evening met with a guy from Greece that took us to a Spanish Pub where I enjoyed my last evening in the UK. It was a great place, nice music and good drinks. We had a sudden rain splash for about 15 minutes and this was the first and only time it rained in the whole two weeks I was there, talk about lucky!
The last day started at the Apple Store in Covent Garden, from there randomly went towards Buckingham Palace and randomly met a cavalry heading for the Mounting of the Guard, obviously I followed them and got to watch it live.
Cavalry
Got to attend this by accident
Meanwhile, a very good friend was checking out on facebook people near him, I had no idea he was in London nor did he. So he called me and we decided to meet for a coffee by the Thames. I was a bit on the run but did enjoy 30 minutes of a surprise lovely meeting in the middle of London. I only realized at the end of the day that it was his birthday!
meeting for a coffee in London, should do it more often
So I left to the airport, suddenly remember that these people I work with also have stores in the airport so I spent quite a while in the Dixons travel store
Dixons Travel, of course!
On the way back enjoyed the lovely sunset show from the plane on fast forward mode while drinking wine.
So these were two full weeks in the Kingdom: met about 50 people, visited about 10 cities and towns, went to two other HP Offices, visited three Retailer’s (that I had worked with) stores, got at least 20 bags of salt & vinegar crisps, traveled some thousands of miles and attended at least 5 big celebration days in the UK and also came back with a lot of stories, and a tan!
May started with a lot of plans, a sort of a fresh start. Had a lot of energy from the two weeks off.
I received an invite from the newly launched online video reggae radio station – Republika Verde to be part of the project and am still working it out how to make this happen.
Met with the guys at Arenele Romane for the soundcheck of the biggest reggae event of the year – Gentleman & The Evolution diversity tour. And I got to play the guitar with the speakers on, so cool!! It was a truly unique experience and the guys had a great show.
Family visited for the Night of the Museum and my lovely little sister learned to ride her pink bike in less than 10 minutes!
Summer is just starting, Toscana holiday about to begin and concerts are about to happen: on Monday went to Roxette, two days ago to Romanian Rock bands, yesterday it was Monarchy & IAMX, on Monday there’s going to be Sting and after that some Scorpions, Jamiroquai, Bon Jovi and who knows what else!
It was Jody’s turn to visit Bucharest, she did not stay for “two months” like I did but I think she liked it even with the “tropical heat” we have here.
Some changes coming up though but things are looking bright for the future.
Hope you all had an amazing Spring and have a fantastic Summer!
Begining of Spring 2011 brought along some long awaited premieres and new stuff, that’s the thing about Spring, it’s always young
After all these years I finally went to the end of the line, where the subway goes upper ground it feels completely strange to actually see the rays of sunshine next time gotta take more people:
I celebrated St. Patrick’s for the first time, I’ve been developing a crush on the country and on the people and surprise surprise…the next MTV Europe Music Awards are going to be in.. Belfast and the word is already out the Irish have massive plans for this year, and I hear it’s the party city in Ireland, need to start making plans for it.
Fanwalkers to rock Belfast
My first friend, and best friend, from when we were three is now working in the same team, furthermore, we’re actually working together on the same loudest and biggest and meanest Retailer… and as it seems things are working out smoothly and we’re starting to be called the dream team.
Another interesting view of this surprising event, it is surprising as… who would have thought when we were playing outside so many years ago that we would be doing this together? As my mom likes to say it shows that “dreams come true” and ‘anything can happen”, what a funny turn of events.
Anyway, I’m happy, Nicoleta is happy and together we are having tons of laughs every day
In one of our morning funny moments we suddenly realized how we had never had a drink together, other than sodas and that’s about it when we were small we never actually went for a beer.
Of course that changed very soon as the long awaited St. Patrick’s proved to be the perfect excuse to organize a big going out event to a very nice place downtown called The Gin Factory, that has no Guinness on tap… they had an Irish band playing all kinds of music, anything but in with an Irish twist including Poker Face, Marco Mengoni and the song I asked for all night “She’ll be coming ’round the mountain” ). It was a very fun night: dancing with Leprechauns, trying many new drinks and in short arriving home at about 5 – I’m still sleeping it off.
The next day was a very important day in the development of Andreea Chelsoi as she finally picked-up the phone and called the internet company who actually installed it!!! And it wasn’t at all difficult I really don’t know why I didn’t to this sooner
After sleeping one hour from 9-10 – another first, we went out to meet Geo who came back from Amsterdam to visit for a week and so gathered famous characters of the VDV Gang Friday night for some very strong Irish coffee and jazz, going to karaoke in Mojo to enjoy our renowned and most talented Andrei singing Princess & Shobo some System of a down.
Andrei is now IronMan, got a cast after snowboarding in Austria and has a titanium rod in his arm!!! Do not forget to sign up for insurance when traveling, might save you a few thousand euros or more..
We only realized about 1 am, how us being Vita de Vie supporters actually forgot about the concert that night and we even had some trouble thinking of a place to go…how would have thought that would ever happen?!
And who would have thought that so many of us would start conquering certain parts of the world: Amsterdam, Prague, Canada, Dusseldorf, London, Madrid, Portugal… people moving to all sorts of countries and making this a very international group. Good luck and godspeed wherever you are or going or doing or what kind of transportation you use !
Long time no writing… but a lot of stuff going on.
First of all, in one of my previous posts I was saying that I am halfway there – what I was talking about at the time was that the FanPage for Vita de Vie that I manage (the Romanian rock band that changed my life and brought me a lot of friends and made be a leader and a good organizer) has reached 10,000 fans.
Actually it just hit 11,000 at the beginning of 2011. This was one of my personal goals for 2010 and I was very lucky to manage to achieve everything I set my mind to and a whole lot more that I didn’t see coming. Other goals included: getting a job, going to the Ac Dc, Cranberries and Aerosmith concerts,
2010 was one of the best years so far and I’m hoping 2011 to be even better.
For the New Years I had a quick trip to Napoli along with two very goods friends and it was a blast.
If you did see Eat Pray Love – the movie you could understand that the city can very well be described by the word Attraversiamo = let’s cross the street as this is a very difficult thing to do.
Margherita in the same spot as the scene from Eat Pray Love
It was a short vacation but with a lot of nice adventures:
had the best pizza in the world at Da Michele – one of the oldest and finest pizzerias in Napoli – the hometown of pizza
visited Sorrento – a small and lovely little town close to Napoli with great view over the Mediterranean, lemon and orange gardens and a lot of nice spots with superb views over the Mediterranean
took an evening tour around the Vesuvius vulcano by train
started the year with a concert – Marco Mengoni – the winner of Italian X-Factor and the 2010 MTV Best European Act and actually met him after the concert
had a lovely first day of the year enjoying a traditional Peroni on a sunny day watching the boats
The last couple of months meant a lot of changes from a personal and professional view, this gave me the change to meet and interact with some very special ladies that have inspired me and that I hope to be in touch with for a long time from now: Natalie – our lady from HP, Jody – a very talkative fairy that seems to know everything about everything, Andreea – one of my newest mentors that I do share great life experiences with and of course Sandra – one of the best people in the world that I do hope to be seeing as soon and as often as possible .
Apart from that I’m begging to know a little Italian, the lessons are very relaxing and all in all it’s a fine experience, I’ve started having homework again but it’s a lot of fun.
Keith Richards launched his biography book – Life – and I find that we do have a lot of things in common, starting with bad dentist experiences during childhood, haven’t finished it yet but it seems to be very well written with a lot of interesting details.
I am hoping to visit as many cities as possible this year, for Rolling Stones to have another tour, to meet even more nice people, to keep reuniting with the people from FanWalk, even hoping for another VDV Camp and as many concerts and festivals as possible so that this list to reach at least 150 names
I am happy and confident about the way things are going and I do think there are still lots of changes to come this year, just like 2010 turned out to be a revolutionary year.
I’ve learned quite some time ago that everything happens for a reason, you might not see what that is from the beginning but every now and then you get a chance to understand and put it all together.
This is one of those moments: Apple is something that has always been in my life and I decided to write it all down here to share it with the world and myself.
First part of the story starts with the beginning of the ’90s
When I was a child my dad went abroad for a couple of years, he took a two year trip to the USA and another one to UK while I was in my first years of school.
Every-time he came back he brought all these cool things that you had no way of purchasing from Romania: BMX bike, Vinegar Chips (I tried them for the first time when I was 9 or 10 and the second time was more than 10 years later – currently they still don’t sell ‘em here in Romania), original CD’s, etc
But one of the coolest items he brought us was the original Macintosh computer (a sort of a box, tiny black and white screen with a keyboard and mouse) – it was pretty amazing at the time and I think it still easy an interesting piece.
This was the first computer I ever used: mainly for playing brick games and trying to write words in notepad but it was fascinating.
My brother and I were often fighting about who gets to sit and for how long, we were desperately trying to play games for two players just to keep it in control
After a while we replaced this with a new Windows PC that had color screen and much improved performance, this was only because of a newer version and things evolving so fast. Even at that transition, comparing the way the system worked I felt that Windows I something for stupid people…but eventually I got used to it and only met the Apple mac again some years later.
I’ve always been good at technical stuff, setting up a machine, getting to work it and being intrigued by things I thought could be possible and I usually didn’t stop until I found the solution – I guess I do have an engineer side.
My dad was always a fan of the brand, he was always up to date with everything Apple released and he was so happy when he managed to get his hands on one of those Apple Snow-white ProBooks from the States.
He got the iPhone as soon as it appeared (in the USA).
Visiting the Apple store
In 2007, along with 10 other people, we went to visit Liverpool and London. Up to the day this was an amazing experience (even if it has some very strong competitors …
But to stick to the story, once in the middle of London, on Regent Street we went in to the Apple Retail Store for a quick visit of a couple of hours .
We checked out every single item in that store and each of them was more fascinating than the other, my mom who is not as technically inclined as I am discovered the “new iPod nano” sector that was just out.
That’s when she discovered “Wake me up when September ends” and she told me that this iPod is a lovely gadget and music just sounds better from there.
Getting the first iPod
Our route was: flying into Liverpool, going by bus to London the next day, 5 or 6 days in London and then back to Liverpool for another couple of days to visit Anfield stadium and spend some nights in the house of Brian Epstein (manager of the Beatles) that is now a very nice B&B.
It was a lovely vacation and on the last day – in Liverpool, while my brother was dismantling a fancy blues guitar he found in an old music shop and deciding how are we ever going to take it on the plane (the griff was checked in and the body was in the hand luggage – or the other way around but I’m not so sure now, it was funny), anyway, while we were having some cottage cheese potatoes on a bench in the middle of the city I knew.
I had some money left from the budget and the only way to spend it was to go into the Curry’s shop and buy one of these iPods. I had the butterflies:
I chose the gray one and that the day I started having a soundtrack to my life
I ordered two cases from eBay, I used that gadget for everything it could do: calendar, watching the time across the world, watching videos on the train, or in the subway, mobile photo album, I even included travel guides on it for every time I visited a new place, it was used on numerous occasions for playing music at parties or while driving.
My best friend back then was saying that life is much more beautiful when you listen to music on the go, partly because you don’t hear stupid things people are saying, the traffic that can irritate you even if you don’t realize that and it brings a special touch to your walking, you’re walking in style. It is true, she has a classic iPod and she managed to get her own black MacBook that I was always curious to play with.
Working with Apple
And so life went on with goods soundtracks. Finished school, went many place, finished job not such a happy news, and started looking.
A little after the beginning of 2010 I went to an interview, two months later I got the job.
It’s not that surprising for someone like I am to get a job at HP. An awesome one!
I entered the Operations team for the Retail department for UK and Ireland.
Lucky enough, one of the accounts included here is Apple and even more lucky just at the point I came there was an opening for this account and I was put in charge.
This was a great motivational start-up, I love the job and the people, the things I have to do and more importantly the people I work with.
In 3 months everything was going better and better and I can say I started to have a very good relationship with the people involved especially one located in Germany and another one located in Cork, Ireland.
September started some talks about a possible meeting with everyone in Ireland, October confirmed it and on the 2nd of November I boarded the plane for Dublin.
After a night in Dublin, I spent three days in Cork at the Apple headquarter. It was an amazing feeling to actually get to the heart of it, where it all happens, to see their office and the people who work there.
It was a lovely opportunity to meet and spend some very nice time with the people I only heared on the phone or by e-mail.
I also attended an Apple Vendor fair where big suppliers for Apple brought their goods to have a more face to face type of presentation.
Obviously HP was there and even I talked to some people about the HP mac-connect.
I feel so lucky to be in this position! I met some wonderful people and I feel enriched in so many ways after this…I could say development journey.
On the way back I gained an improved soundtrack to my life with a beautiful playlist that I still have on this amazing tiny music box:
From Cork I went back to Dublin, from Dublin to Madrid to attend the FanWalk Reunion, we were also very lucky to recieve tickets to this year’s MTV European Music Awards at Caja Magica.
After the show ended I had to make a run for the airport, got the 2 am flight, arrived in Bucharest and when straight to the office because I had only 1 week of training for a new extremely challenging opportunity at my job – remember the Curry’s where I got the iPod from Liverpool?
Everything happens for a reason and it’s most often a great one!
I set a few goals at the beginning of this year before I could imagine that so many other beautiful things would happen.
Because it’s good to follow your accomplishment status, I am proud to say that today I am halfway there
I will let you know what it is when I get there!
Tomorrow will be 4 months since I started my new job, a whole lot has happened in the meantime: made a lot of new friends, some of them very good friends, expanded family, learned tons of stuff, discovered something I like to do and a great place to do it, got a new laptop, got a new and very beautiful home, made plans for vacation.
I am on top of the wave and I’m loving the view
Getting close to Automn, Ami’s second grade and the first vacation in Europe after FanWalk I am experiencing a feeling of fulfillment and inner richness, I like who I am and the people around me!
This time next week I will be celebrating my Mom’s 50th birthday in Vienna. So the song of the week will most definitely be this one:
Of many things that have made me the person I am today music is one of the most important. And some of the most important bands that created a soundtrack for my highschool years is The Cranberries.
That’s the first thought I had when I heard that the famous Cranberries, after 6 years of absence are starting a tour and arriving in Bucharest on July 20th.
This event was my third “2010 resolution” of the 3 and I’ve managed to acomplish all of them and I have a great feeling of fulfilment about this.
Cranberries.
Am auzit si Animal Instinct, Dreaming My Dreams, mai ales Linger si Just My Imagination, When You’re Gone , Ode To My Family, Salvation, Zombie, Promises.
Can you imagine that in less than 2 months I’ve seen some of the biggest music legends in the world!!
I am proud to say that I have added to my list of artists that I have seen live in concert names like: AC DC, Aerosmith, Bob Dylan, Elton John, Alice in Chains, Anthrax, Megadeth, Anathema, Stone Sour and re-added names like Metallica, Slayer, Reamonn, Jean Michel Jarre.
I feel very lucky and happy to have lived all these in such a short while but I must admit that no matter what expectations I may have had before June 27th, the most spectacular show I have been to lately was…RAMMSTEIN!
Amazing and incredible production and show, these people are doing unbelievable things and if you are at one of their concerts you simply don’t want it to end!
My #1 concert still is Rolling Stones but there is a lot of emotional stuff about this one, Rammstein should be the biggest show of any kind that I have ever been to.
I’m looking forward for The Cranberries, Gary Moore, Eros Ramazzotti or Pink Martini and Faithless that I have seen before, Guns’n'Roses announced their first gig in Bucharest and it seems that in October I am finally getting the chance to see the legendary U2.
There are plenty of concerts out there, just set your mind to it and…get there
